7 Straight Wins for Mounties
Quebec got a terrific performance from pitcher Victor Favela, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montreal Mounties. Montreal won the Lucky 7 Ballpark contest, 5-3. Favela threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Montreal reliever Randy Mowers snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Danny Phillips shouldered the loss. Montreal, now 22-10, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Jean-Louis Barrier came through with a big-time hit for Montreal. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Barrier.
