Hornets Top Mavericks, 2-1, Behind Lowrie
|
The Eureka Hornets received a superlative performance from starting pitcher Harley Lowrie, allowing them to bump off the El Paso Mavericks, 2-1. With the victory, the Hornets upped their record to 17-16.
Lowrie, who dominated for Eureka, earned the victory to move to 4-1. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 4. El Paso batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"Good ballgame," said El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo. "But we came up on the short end."
