Hitmen Win at Thunder Bay, 6-4
|
The Calgary Hitmen picked up a win at Edgbaston, dropping the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 6-4. Duane Alcock, who is tied for 2nd in the RAAA in complete games with 6, was the difference-maker. In 8 innings, Alcock surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 7. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up his 24th save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Westberry.
The Hitmen got a big at-bat from second baseman Victor Lagunas. For the game, Lagunas went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 25th double of the season gave Calgary a 2-1 lead.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Lagunas told the Calgary Daily News.
Calgary now sits at 75-57, while Thunder Bay falls to 71-61.
