Cats Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Fort Worth Cats defeated the Albuquerque Cacti, 3-2, in RCL AAA action at Albuquerque Sports Stadium, with Fort Worth pitcher Doug Durham named player of the game. The win was credited to Billy Taylor in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Phil Kettenring took the loss. Fort Worth is now 67-86, while Albuquerque is 86-67.
Fort Worth used the timely hitting of Danny Benitez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cats on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Durham told a Fort Worth Bulletin reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
