Fairfield pitcher David Sinn gave the Cacti all they could handle, but in the end, Albuquerque left Albuquerque Sports Stadium with a win, 2-1. Sinn allowed 2 runs on 8 hits over 7.2 innings. Andy Mitchell closed it out for his 9th save. The Flash, now 66-65, have lost 5 straight.
In the bottom of the fifth, Ricardo Nieves delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Albuquerque right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Cacti in front, 2-1.
"We were in it," said Fairfield manager Edward Batkin. "We just didn't score enough runs."
