State College Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Rivera
Despite a great performance by State College left fielder Ruben Rivera, the Calgary Cowboys defeated the Swallowtails by the score of 9-8 at Cowboys Field. Rivera slugged 3 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring three times. The win was credited to 30-year old left-handed pitcher Arturo Villanueva in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Hua-ding Shuai took the loss. James Towns notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.

Sam Spurr helped out the Calgary cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 4 with a home run.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Spurr told the Calgary Observer.

Calgary improves to 100-52 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.
