Minneapolis Drops Calgary in Pitchers' Duel
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Minneapolis Freeze and the Calgary Cowboys. Minneapolis won it, 2-0. Minneapolis starter Mark Walsh was in command. Franklin Sprague closed the door for Minneapolis, picking up his 14th save of the year. With the win over Calgary, the Freeze improved to 73-56.

The Freeze had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 2-0, Minneapolis, with one out. Calgary, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Bill Thal dug in at the plate, but on a 3-1 fastball, he flied out.
