The Fairfield Flash, despite a fine performance by Minneapolis pitcher Victor Hernandez, grabbed a 3-2 win at The Ice Box. Hernandez allowed 2 runs over 8 innings. Fairfield reliever Tony Mireles picked up the win, raising his record to 7-1. Mike O'Neil was tagged with the loss. Fairfield is now 69-60. Minneapolis is 61-68.

Israel Velasquez drove in one run against the Freeze. With the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that put Fairfield in front, 3-2.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Fairfield manager Edward Batkin said.
