The Calgary Cowboys defeated the State College Swallowtails, 9-2. Doing his part was catcher Mel Brace, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Chad Allred, the winning pitcher, is now 4-4. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, while fanning 8 and walking 2. Gregg Kelley closed it out for Calgary, earning his 1st save.

Nick Youngblood had a big grand slam home run for the Cowboys in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Calgary leading 5-2 and the bases loaded, he sized up a cutter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Martin Butler and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Cowboys on top, 9-2.

"I thought we played a nice game," Brace told the Calgary Times. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

At 86-65, the Cowboys have a slim two-game lead in the RCL AAA Tony La Russa Division.
