Thanks in large part to pinch hitter Nick Simmons, the Memphis Privateers beat the Fort Worth Cats, 5-4. Simmons went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Carl Reusch claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The Memphis win streak is now 3 games.

Simmons had a timely hit for Memphis in the bottom of the seventh. With Memphis trailing 4-1, he turned a 2-1 slider into a grand slam home run. It was his 25th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Memphis.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Fort Worth manager Dudha Goli.
