7-5 Win by Hornets Continues Hot Start
|
Though he had a stellar game, Joe Cloutier could not prevent his team, the Bloomington Blazers, from losing, 7-5, to the Eureka Hornets. Cloutier went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Bobby Loscalzo, who is tied for 2nd in the TML in quality starts with 5, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout. Justin Soule nailed down his 10th save.
Eureka used a clutch at-bat from Mike Hughes to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Hornets ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We put it together and came out with the win," Hughes said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The loss drops Bloomington to 14-13.
