Raiders Drop Caterpillars, 5-3
|
Reno beat Peoria on the strength of starting pitcher Cory Bossert's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Bossert, now 5-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 2, walking 5, and allowing 3 runs. The 4th-place Raiders lifted their record to 71-75.
Reno needed the clutch hitting of Christian Lynn to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Raiders on top, 4-3. For the game, Lynn had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Bossert.
