The Calgary Kodiaks and Detroit Death Stars played a tight game at Foothills Stadium, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.

Calgary starter Kody Kempa pitched effectively against the Detroit Death Stars at Foothills Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Hiroshi Nagasawa, credited with the save, is now 38 for 46 in save opportunities.

Had Vic Genty not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Genty hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Kodiaks.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Genty told the Calgary Gazette.
