Waimea starter Mark Weston put the Bowling Green offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Wind to a 2-1 win. Ben Nunley converted his 30th save in 36 tries. Bowling Green has now lost 5 consecutive games.
The Wind got a big at-bat from first baseman Andrew Timothy. For the game, Timothy went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave Waimea a 2-1 lead.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Weston.
