Raiders Rally For Late Win Over Cacti
|
The Reno Raiders grabbed a 6-3 win over the Albuquerque Cacti at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Reno second baseman Carlos Ballesteros went 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Dave O'Donohue, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 10-15. Kai-ge Ching was credited with the save for Reno, his 10th of the season.
Ballesteros had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Blake Orlando, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Raiders a 5-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Ballesteros.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Ballesteros told the Reno Daily. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The Raiders now have a record of 56-88.
