The Redbirds had to overcome a fine performance from Bowling Green pitcher Dave Pinkley to grab a 5-3 win at Top of the Hill. Pinkley allowed 2 earned runs over 6.2 innings. Even with the win, the Redbirds have a dismal 41-103 record.

Candiac used the clutch hitting of Carlos Carranza to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Redbirds ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Carranza. "And not try to do too much."
