The Joplin Fireballs weathered an outstanding game by Minneapolis designated hitter Chris Tomich to topple the Freeze, 8-7. Tomich went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. Bill LaForge earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-7. The Fireballs sit in last place in the TML AAA Joe Torre Division with a record of 44-76.

Joplin got a knockout punch from Andy Chambers. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Chambers, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
