Argonauts Turn Back Baton Rouge, 6-5
|
The Astoria Argonauts and Baton Rouge Outlaws obliged those fans who came to Golden Fleece Park hoping for an exciting game.
Astoria beat Baton Rouge at Golden Fleece Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Guillermo Castorena, who earned player of the game honors. David Rios recorded his 13th save for Astoria.
In the bottom of the fifth, Astoria catcher Neal Thacker had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and no one out, Thacker stroked a run-scoring double to center. It made the score 6-2, Astoria. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a double.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Castorena told the Astoria Times.
The 5th-place Argonauts now have a win-loss record of 69-71.
