A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Billings Mustangs and Joplin Fireballs.

The Billings Mustangs beat the Joplin Fireballs, 8-5, at Cobb Field. Sam Callahan, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Jeremy Hillman got the win, improving to 9-11. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3.

Billings right fielder Butch Beckman made an impact. He drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. In the contest, Beckman went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times.

"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Beckman.

After today's action, Billings sits at 50-88; Joplin slips to 63-75.
