Candiac first baseman David Barber made his presence felt in the 14-4 Redbirds triumph over the Thunder Bay Black Bears. Barber went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jason Loer, the winner, improved to 4-6. He held the Black Bears to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Even with the win, the Redbirds have a dismal 40-100 record.

Barber had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 curveball from Alex Corrales, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Redbirds a 5-4 lead. It was the 41st hit of the year for Barber.

"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Barber.
