Marshals Trounce Raiders, 10-2
|
The San Jose Marshals topped the Reno Raiders, 10-2, with designated hitter Randy Rizzi playing a big role. Rizzi was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Marshals in the win. Reno has now lost 5 in a row.
Art Barker had a big run-scoring single for the Marshals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Jose leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Timmo van Bladel and stroked the single to left. It was his 78th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marshals ahead, 4-2.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Brian Travis. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
