Bob Sanders did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Tallahassee Captains an extra-inning, 9-8 loss to the Calgary Cowboys at The Carrier Dome. Sanders went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. George Main earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 2-0. With this game in the books, Calgary is 75-58, Tallahassee 72-62.

Randy Ainsworth came through with a big-time hit for Calgary. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It was a test of wills," said Thomas Hughes, the Calgary skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
