The Fort Worth Cats earned a close win over the Thunder Bay Black Bears, thanks in part to Steve Thomas. The Fort Worth right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Ben Nunley notched his 23rd save in 26 chances. Fort Worth now owns a record of 60-73.

Had Jake Tovrea not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tovrea hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cats.

"Steve was dictating to their hitters," said Fort Worth manager Dudha Goli.
