The bat of Tom Cole helped the Thunder Bay Black Bears top the Reno Raiders, 9-4. Cole went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Thunder Bay. The victory gives the Black Bears a record of 68-46.

Danny Torres went 1-3 with a hit by pitch for Thunder Bay. The 27-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Mike Cornwell. It was his 34th RBI of the season.

"Being in first place now is good," said Cole. "Being in first at the end of the season is better. That's our goal."
