Late Rally by Freeze Secures Win
|
The Minneapolis Freeze took Albuquerque pitcher Ken Stein's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Ice Box. The final score had Minneapolis getting past the Cacti, 3-2. Stein went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 4. The Freeze own a robust 86-42 mark.
The Freeze took the lead in the bottom of the eighth when Ricky Montanez banged a two-out single. Minneapolis had been trailing 2-1, but Montanez hit a first pitch fastball from Howard Radley for a 2-run single.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Albuquerque skipper Matt Wells.
