The Montreal Mounties got a marvelous performance from pitcher Greg Spivey. The right-hander kept the Eureka offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Montreal victory at Mount Royal Grounds. Spivey yielded 2 runs over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-3. Bill Wolfe earned the save for Montreal, his 7th of the year.

Chris Elliott, who led the RCL in RBI with 124 last year, chipped in a 2-run home run for Montreal in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.

"Greg pitched like a champ," said Montreal manager Thomas Hughes.

The defeat makes Eureka 18-12.
