The Calgary Kodiaks beat the Albany Firebirds, 5-2. Calgary pitcher and Longueuil, Canada, native Wayne Balaski led the way. Balaski yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-3.

Calgary used the hitting of Ryan Welch to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Kodiaks on top, 5-2. For the game, Welch had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Balaski. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."

The 4th-place Kodiaks now sit at 56-53.
