Cacti Bang Out 8-4 Win Versus Minneapolis
|
The Albuquerque Cacti topped the Minneapolis Freeze, 8-4, in RCL AAA action at The Ice Box. The player of the game was Albuquerque pitcher and Burbank (Los Angeles County), California native Doug Castro. Castro, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Albuquerque has now won 3 in a row.
Jake Sandlin had a big run-scoring single for the Cacti in the top of the third inning. With Albuquerque leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Frank Gallagher and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 111st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cacti ahead, 3-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Sandlin said.
