Cats Fall Short, 7-6, at Astoria
|
Matt Hudson had a good game, but he could not keep the Fort Worth Cats from falling, 7-6, to the Astoria Argonauts at Golden Fleece Park. The Fort Worth left fielder went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 in the loss. Teguh Sukarno converted his 1st save in 1 tries. Fort Worth has now lost 4 in a row.
Juan Mendez had a big 2-run triple for the Argonauts in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Astoria trailing 5-4 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Jake Drummond and stroked the triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Argonauts ahead, 6-5.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Mendez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
