Led by 22-year-old Mike Riggs, the Albuquerque Cacti downed the Memphis Privateers, 7-5. Riggs went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs for Albuquerque. Albuquerque reliever Dave Recer picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Danny Snow was saddled with the loss. Albuquerque leads the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division by 2½ games.

The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Riggs delivered big-time for Albuquerque, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Danny Snow. The game-changing hit put the Cacti on top, 6-5.

"Mike may be green behind the ears," said Cacti manager Randy Haynes. "But he's quickly learning how to contribute."
