Cacti Throttle Outlaws, 5-1
|
The Albuquerque Cacti defeated the Baton Rouge Outlaws, 5-1, at Coca Cola Stadium. Albuquerque center fielder Rusty Ela was named player of the game for his superb performance. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Bob King earned the win for Albuquerque. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 10-2. The Cacti saw their win-loss record go to 69-56. At the same time, the Outlaws fell to 54-72.
In the top of the third, Ela had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run home run off Andy Ludewig that staked the Cacti to a 2-0 lead.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Ela told the Albuquerque Today. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
