Multi-HR Day for Bell as Argonauts Overpower Marshals, 8-7
|
The Astoria Argonauts powered past the San Jose Marshals, 8-7, at Golden Fleece Park. Jason Bell belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. The win puts the Argonauts at 62-63, while the Marshals drop to 72-50.
Tied up with the Marshals in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Argonauts got a boost from second baseman Santiago Sierra. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Sierra saw a 1-0 forkball from Willy Ortiz and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Astoria on top, 8-7.
In postgame comments to the Astoria Times, Sierra said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
