Raiders Score Late to Upend Death Stars, 9-3
|
The Detroit Death Stars got a superb performance from pitcher Nick Davidson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Reno. The Raiders won the game, 9-3. In spite of the loss, Davidson was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. The winner was Keith Noble in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Nick Davidson took the loss. With the win, the Raiders improved to 50-75.
The Reno triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Steve Sanders. In the top of the eighth, the Reno left fielder hit a grand slam. It staked his team to a 6-2 lead.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Reno manager Brian Travis.
