Falcons Take Nail-Biter Over Sphinx
The Cairo Sphinx got a superb performance from pitcher Bill Montgomery, but the Forest Acres Falcons still won the game, 5-4. Montgomery was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball. James Arnold, credited with the win, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Forest Acres bumps their record to 64-56 with the win.

Forest Acres took a 5-4 lead on Ray Bailey's 65th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Bailey hit in the bottom of the 12th, left Cairo pitcher Harold Lane visibly frustrated.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Bailey. "And not try to do too much."
