Both offenses were relatively subdued at The Firepit. Fortunately for the Joplin Fireballs, though, Joe Constable was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times, to lead his team past the Madison Muskies, 3-2. The winning pitcher was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ramon Franco. He tossed 98 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. At 56-65, the Fireballs find themselves in last place in the TML AAA Joe Torre Division.
Joplin grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Constable hit a solo home run off Barry Ledgerwood. His 1st home run of the season put the Fireballs out in front, 3-2.
Constable said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
