Bob Epperson was locked in. The right-hander led the Fort Worth Cats to a 6-2 win against the Calgary Hitmen at LaGrave Field. The win was credited to 32-year old right-handed pitcher Kyle Taylor in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Mark Collier took the loss. Ethan Pollard got the save, his 8th in 10 chances.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Bryant Wight came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Calgary pitcher Mark Collier, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Worth on top, 3-2.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Fort Worth manager Dudha Goli.

The Cats saw their win-loss record go to 43-57. At the same time, the Hitmen fell to 61-39.
