Cacti Sneak Past Canadians, 5-4
|
The Vancouver Canadians got a sterling performance from shortstop Herman Jones, but the Cacti still prevailed, 5-4. Jones was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 3-3 with 2 doubles and a walk. With the victory, the Cacti record now stands at 60-54.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 2nd and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when second baseman Junzo Takenaka, who leads the RAAA in doubles with 36, hit a single. The Cacti went on to win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Vancouver manager José Parra.
