Luchadores Beaten, 5-3, by Huntington Station
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Huntington Station Ramrods and Mexico City Luchadores.
The 5-3 Huntington Station win over Mexico City was due in large part to Michio Matsumoto. The Ramrods third baseman went 2-3 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Jason Sanders got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Ben Benson, who finished 2nd in the RCL in innings pitched with 259.2 in 2057, earned the save for Huntington Station.
Matsumoto contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Huntington Station in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Matsumoto took a changeup from Alberto Candelaria and stroked the double to center. His 4th double of the season allowed the Ramrods to leap in front, 2-1.
"It was a solid team effort," said Matsumoto after the game.
The Ramrods raised their record to 8-17.
