Kodiaks Come Back Late, Nip Argonauts
|
The Calgary Kodiaks bested the Astoria Argonauts, 8-7, at Golden Fleece Park. Bobby Quinonez was named player of the game. He was 3-5 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Calgary reliever Jonathan Rice picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Henry Nevarez was saddled with the loss. Hiroshi Nagasawa earned his 33rd save in 41 chances.
Quinonez had no bigger at-bat than in the top of the ninth when the 26-year old left fielder hit a run-scoring single. The single gave Calgary the lead, 8-7. It was his 43rd hit of the season.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Quinonez said.
This win makes it 5 in a row for Calgary.
