Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Astoria Argonauts and Joplin Fireballs.

Benefiting from Travis Arant's productive game, the Astoria Argonauts downed the Joplin Fireballs, 6-4. Arant went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Argonauts. Jeff Stephens went 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The right-hander struck out 5 and walked 2. With the win, he's now 3-3 this season.

Had Ben Waugh not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Waugh hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Argonauts.

"I try to not think too much," said Arant.

The Argonauts sit in 5th place in the TML AAA Cito Gaston League with a record of 46-51.
