Albany Absorbs 5-3 Loss to State College
|
The State College Swallowtails picked up a win at Stars Field, taking down the Albany Firebirds, 5-3. Starting pitcher Eric Church was a big reason why. Church yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 4-7. State College has won 3 straight, while Albany has lost 5 in a row.
State College left fielder Lewis Yafeu contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Swallowtails ahead, 3-1.
State College manager Afalku Coffie commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
