Firebirds Get Thrilling 6-5 Win
Led by Brian Cornetta, the Albany Firebirds downed the Calgary Hitmen, 6-5, in 12 innings. Cornetta was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Firebirds. Mark Buchholz earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 3-0. The win lifted the Albany record to 51-42.

Albany took a 5-3 lead on Devin Knapp's 8th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Knapp hit in the top of the eighth, left Calgary pitcher Ricky Sanchez visibly frustrated.

"You play a lot of one-run games," said Albany skipper Garry Rabenek, "and it seems there's one play somewhere in there that changes the game."
