Pilots Lambaste Earthquakes, 12-1
|
The Jacksonville Pilots routed the San Francisco Earthquakes, 12-1, at Arnold Field. Edwin Timmermans, who is tied for 3rd in the TML in runs scored with 20, was one of the hitting stars. He hit 3 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored three times for Jacksonville. The victory makes Jacksonville 15-9, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2061.
With Jacksonville leading 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Timmermans came up to bat against San Francisco pitcher Rosario Lulli. Timmermans hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Pilots on top, 10-0.
"Edwin has some easy pop," said Jacksonville manager Bill Lomax. "He's dangerous."
