|
Forest Acres starter Henry Torres pitched effectively against the Vancouver Canadians at McClure Field. The right-hander led his team to a 5-4 win. Torres, now 6-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 3 earned runs. Jaden Brown earned the save for Forest Acres, his 17th of the year.
Paul Howley went 1 for 4 for Forest Acres. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Howley had a clutch at-bat. Facing Vancouver hurler Robbie Lawrence, he hit a run-scoring single to give the Falcons a 4-3 lead.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Howley told the Forest Acres Citizen. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The 'W' lifts Forest Acres's record to 52-50.
