Armadillos K-O Raiders, 10-0
|
The home team gave the crowd at Armadillos Park something to cheer about.
Amarillo Armadillos starter Franklin Lucero was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Reno Raiders, 10-0. Lucero yielded no runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 9-4.
The Armadillos got a big hit from third baseman Tyler Pate. Facing Reno pitcher Willie Aragon in the bottom of the seventh, Pate pounded a grand slam home run to left-center. His 18th home run of the season put the Armadillos ahead, 8-0.
Said losing manager Rod Cirilo: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
The 4th-place Raiders have dropped 4 straight games.
