Armadillos Score Late, Stun Mustangs, 4-3
|
Fans watched the Amarillo Armadillos and the Billings Mustangs fight to the finish.
Billings got a terrific performance from pitcher Ed Newson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Amarillo Armadillos. Amarillo won the Cobb Field contest, 4-3. Newson threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Amarillo pitcher David Frisk got the win. He's now 4-5. Ken Pratt was tagged with the loss. Ashton Roberge recorded the save, his 5th.
Manny Gallegos had a direct impact on the outcome. Gallegos contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Amarillo up, 4-3.
Gallegos attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
