Fans who came to Edgbaston watched the San Jose Marshals and the Thunder Bay Black Bears fight to the finish.
The Marshals grabbed a win, 6-5, at Edgbaston, overcoming a fine effort from Thunder Bay pitcher Graeme Charge. Charge went 7.1 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. San Jose reliever Gabriel Bernard picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jeff Shue absorbed the loss. Justin Bolling notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.
Art Barker aided the San Jose cause with a solo home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, the left fielder went 1-3 with a home run and a walk.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said San Jose manager José Serrano.
San Jose is now riding a 3-game win streak.
