The Astoria Argonauts had to overcome a big game from Thunder Bay left fielder Chikashi Matsubara to leave Golden Fleece Park with a 8-7 victory. Matsubara was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was Matt Comrie's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jeff Shue took the loss for Thunder Bay. Astoria is now 48-50.

Late in the game, center fielder Juan Lara had a big at-bat for Astoria. In the bottom of the ninth, he hit a run-scoring single off Troy King. The play gave the Argonauts a 8-7 lead.

In postgame comments to the Astoria Times, Lara said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
