It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Cacti fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.

Rick Rielly, who is tied for 7th in the RAAA with a 4.05 ERA, never let the Black Bears get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Cacti to a win, 3-1. Rielly, now 5-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.

The Cacti got a big at-bat from right fielder Tony Vasquez. For the game, Vasquez went 1-2 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Albuquerque a 2-1 lead.

"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said Thunder Bay manager Qi-chang Ec.

Albuquerque, now 44-40, holds down second place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
