Hitmen Rally to Nose Past State College
Jalen Thompson did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the State College Swallowtails from being beaten, 7-6, to the Calgary Hitmen at Mckinley Park. Thompson went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Ryan Wride earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-3. Jim Westberry was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 12 save opportunities.

Calgary took a 6-5 lead on Devon Bagley's 4th triple of the season. The bases-clearing triple, which Bagley hit in the bottom of the eighth, left State College pitcher Billy Seal visibly frustrated.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said State College manager Afalku Coffie. "But we decided not to take it."

At 45-37, Calgary is in first place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
