The Joplin Fireballs got a magnificent effort from pitcher Juan Manzanares, who kept Billings hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Fireballs win at The Firepit. Orlando Sanchez locked down his 18th save. Joplin occupies last place in the TML AAA Joe Torre Division at 45-50.

Manzanares subdued the Billings offense. The Joplin right-hander allowed a mere 3 hits over 8 innings, while fanning 9. His season record goes to 7-3 with the win.

"Juan mixed and matched," said Joplin manager Daniel Petro.
