Marshals Stymie Billings, Take 2-1 Win
|
The San Jose Marshals picked up a win at Cobb Field, knocking off the Billings Mustangs, 2-1. Starting pitcher Katsutaro Nishikawa played a key role in the triumph. Nishikawa went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-2. Francisco Regalado, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
San Jose grabbed control in the top of the seventh. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, DeMario Guzman delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Marshals.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Guzman.
The Marshals improve their record to 51-39 with the win over Billings.
